Hi everyone,
Just wondering if someone can recommend me a good reliable external hard drive with drive good encryption maybe or ill just use true crypt if bulit in protection is no good. My internal hdd just died and im so hacked off feal like killing Seagate.
I need 250GB at least and I wouldn’t mind if it’s a NAS drive but dont want to spend that much
thanks to all

Please tell me you had all your data properly backed up.
I bought an external powered caddy and installed a 250gb IDE drive in it. You can buy IDE or SATA versions quite cheaply (try ebay) and install any compatible drive of your choice.
I think that is a cheaper and more flexible approach than buying an external drive complete, though you can probably open them up and replace the hard drive.
Is your Seagate under warranty?0 -
Buy Spinrite 6 it can fix the hdd, if its not completely gone. Go to https://www.grc.com0

PC World had an offer on a Maxtor 320Gb at just under £70 ... you should still be able to get 320Gb for under £100... don't know if they have any left though. I have been using Truecrypt for quite a while now and it has been an excellent product ... I can also recommend axcrypt as well
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
