good morning all
Could anyone give me some pointers when knocking down an interior non-supporting wall?
The house is a 1930's semi detached and the wall i am looking to knock down is between the upstairs toilet room and the bathroom. The idea is to create one larger space.
The surveyor has said the wall in non-supporting.
can i just take a hammer to the wall? Is there a method to it?
I think the wall is brick.
Also, how do you smooth off the edges once the wall has been knocked down?
Thanks

bolster chisel and club hammer did it for me.
once you get the first row out it gets easier.
put dust/old sheets around the door to prevent dust getting everywhere in the house.
old plywood and blankets on the floor in case anything drops. buckets to catch the bits etc.
ps
start at the top!
or near the top.
smoothing the edges is called making good. usually with plaster/ing.Get some gorm.0 -
i now have an SDS drill. so drilling out the first few bricks would be dead easy.Get some gorm.0

You need to apply for a Building Control Notice, even for a non-structural wall.
It can be done online on the Planning Portal website. We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
