plasma - fading when using the xbox?

We are looking into buying a large screen tv and were swayed towards an LCD because we had heard that if you pause a dvd or the x-box it can drain the colour and leave a ghost image on the screen. We watch quite a lot of dvds and my partner plays his xbox (whenever he can persuade me to have an early night :rotfl: ) so this is a major concern to us, if it is true.
However, we've looked into the benefits of plasmas and they seem to be better quality for 37" and above, especially for sports and movies.
So...can anybody help us to get some answers as to whether there is still a problem with colour drainage/ghost images?
Also, can anybody recommend any specific plasma models for approx £800-1000?

Plasma's can suffer from screen burn if static images are left for lengthy periods of time, however they generally come with a screensaver that will kick in during periods of inactivity to help prevent damage.
So it should not be a problem.
Plasma's are generally better for the screen size you mention, and are also pretty good pricewise compared to LCD's.
The thing to remember is that LCD's are also prone to faults (dead pixels). So swings and roundabouts really.
I have the Panasonic TH42PX60 - a fab 42 inch plasma which is generally available for 899 at the moment (Curry's sale I think amongst others).Play up Pompey!0 -
Plasma does tend to be better than LCD above 36 or 40 inches.
Recent Plasmas are less prone to screen burn than earlier models so go Plasma if you are buying above 36 inches.
The real solution is to get your man to join you in an early night and not waste his time playing computer games. Get him to play with you instead.:p
