How important is the Duel Core Processor? (Dell Laptop)

I am looking to purchase one of the Dell Insipron 1501 but I'm not sure which one to go for. As far as I can see the only differnce is that one has a "AMD TurionTM 64 Mobile Technology MK-36" and the more expensive one has a "AMD Turion TM 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-50"
I don't need it to do much mainly light internet use and Itunes that sort of thing.
I obviously want to spend as little as possible and there is a difference of £50 between the two.
Can anyone give some advice on this.
Many hanks

i'd get the turion x2 processor as it'll make alot of difference if you multitask, i have a intel pentium 4 desktop upstairs and the dell e1505 with intel duo core processor and the dell is so much speedier its freaky
,
but if your only using it for light browsing/listening to music it might be worth saving the £50 and going for the single turion

its the new selling hype - just like intel processors with ht technology were before, yes it'll make a difference but its not the be all and end all. It also means you can get some cracking deals on single core computers. As for comments like a duo is faster etc etc its so hard to compare the architecture of the chips is different they run at different speed, they have more cache (generally) which can help things. So yes the new intel core II duo chips are great but the other dual core chips there is little difference unless you are running several fairly cpu intensive applications at once, or one of the few applications designed to utilise two cores.0
