Just got my first paycheck..where can I put it?!

Options
Hi,

Great site, hope someone can help me out!

Every month I will have about £1000 to put somewhere, but I'm lost as to where..I'm thinking of a saving account? I already have an ISA, and at the mo my pay is sitting in a HSBC account (very low interest) and want to get teh most out of it as I can..any advice would be of great help,

thanks again,

Andy ;D

    Nationwide are pretty good...

You can get your pay put into the FlexAccount (current acct) and transfer money to e-savings which gets (roughly.. i think itll be this after 1st sept) 5%

I think you can set it up to automatically transfer money across to savings.

only thing is to get it out you have to transfer it back to your flex acct then take it out of there..

its a pretty good current acct too

I thought that this was going to be an american post and was ready to say look on a US site.

Is your ISA a mini or maxi, have there been contributions this tax year?

What timescales are you looking to put it to one side?
What is your view on investment risk?
What rate tax do you pay?

  • Thanks for the replies.

I've been looking around, and the best rate I can find is this one:

    http://www.alliance-leicester.co.uk/savings/index.asp?page=online-saver

So I think I'll go with that, if anyone has any better, let me know!

DD: I looking to put it aside for about 1year, I'm not keen on investment at this stage, not sure what tax rate I'm paying...whats your view on the above link?

    thanks again,

    Andy :)
