The Gramophone Magazine

An aged relative has a couple of boxes of The Gramophone magazine some going back to the 1950s.Also she has a number of vinyl 78s again some going back to the same era. They are all in reasonable condition. There are a few for sale on ebay but has anyone any thoughts on any other possible places they could be sold. If they could be sold the proceeds would be very welcome to augment the pension.
Local charity shops were not interested anyway and it seems a pity to throw out 60 year old magazines.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Sadly I don't think they're worth much. I checked the completed listings and single copies from the 50s were going unsold. If you've several of them your best bet would be to sell them all as a job lot.

As for the records it would depend what they were. Jazz and blues records from the 20s and 30s can be very collectible, rock and roll records from the 50s less so, easy listening/classical probably very little. However without knowing what they are it's difficult to say. You could try popsike.com to see if they've came up at auction before.

They are actualy still going, and have a website.

I dont think you will be able to sell them there, but it might be worth enquiring to see if anyone knows somewhere.

If by chance you are anywhere near London you could maybe try here

Thanks those who responded. Spoke to a specialist dealer and he said only 1940s or earlier of any value. So keep another 50 years or junk. Will try and sell the odd one via auction sites. Seems a pity as Auntie has kept them for over 50 years but cest la vie. Howardtog

My OH is a rail andmedel/military enthusiast and recently dumped 2 full loads of old mags in the paper recycliing at the local dump. He had some as far back as the 60s and none had any value at all..such a shame.
