We go here every year.If you have a tent there is a campsite inside the grounds.York is only 30 mins so ypu could stay in a b&b overnight. These usually have leaflets with offers in them for local attractions. You will need a full day to look round the zoo and take on some of the rides.

The locals treat Flamingo Land as a bit of a joke but being Yorkshire folk they are money savvy.
Lots of camp sites all over North Yorkshire, the farmers need the extra income.
The steam railway in Pickering (to Whitby) is excellent value, & very scenic.:)

You could always tell the kids that pleasure grounds are for sissys' and further north at Middlesborough
they can take a bungee jump instead --

We just got back yesterday. We stayed at the new travelodge in Scarborough ina £19 family room. It was great - only half an hour away. The travelodge was right in the centre of Scarborough opposite the cliffs and there was lots of free parking nearby. There's a pizza hut two mins walk away so we did the £5 deal everybody is talking about, and in the morning there are lots of bakeries and a mcdonalds a stones throw away so we got bagels.
Flamingo land deffo needs a full day there is so much to do. We were very impressed. We bought cheap tickets off ebay. Offers on entrance price seem like gold dust and after doing a lot of searching on these forums we decided it was the only way to guarantee a discount off the entry. I never saw any discounts in any tourist leaflets and I looked at a lot! Hope you enjoy it - I'm sure you will!

Thanks Minskerella, just what I needed to know....can you tell me....I dont usually go on many rides so would I still need to pay to get in? or could i just 'pay as i go' if i did see any rides i wanted to go on? im thinking probs not coz it includes the zoo too but thought id ask see if you know..

i was wondering if a day would be enough as I know that both will prob takes hours, what do you advise doing 1st? rides or zoo?

thanks for all your help, im away to ebay just now to look for any money off vouchers............

Hi, everybody has to pay to get in unfortunately. I didn't really get my moneys worth as I spent most of the day holding coats!! The zoo isn't that big to be honest and we had no probs doing it all in a day. However, we were out of season so the longest we queued was 20 mins for the mumbo jumbo. All the childresn rides we just walked on. Also it was very quiet at the start and end of the day so that was the best time to hit the big rides before the queues started. Hope you have fun :)

Excluding OAP/Disabled/Groups, everyone over 4 years old pays the same price at Flamingo Land.

You defiantly need a full day at Flamingo Land but even in summer the queues are not usually as long as Alton Towers and you should be able to see/do most things in one day.

As With most theme parks, it's best to get there early and head (run!) to your favourite big ride first to avoid queues. By Lunchtime the queues will be hitting their peak so it's a good time to have lunch and visit the Zoo (a lot of the shows are also on in the afternoon).

The queues generally get quieter again towards the park closing time but if the kids like getting wet, then the outdoor splash park is great but swimwear would be ideal.

One more thing with Flamingo Land is that the main road (A64 Leeds-York-Scarborough) gets notoriously busy in summer and a few miles between Malton & York can easily take a couple of hours

Check out the website. There are substantial discounts for buying online. it isn't until you put the days etc in that they show on the site. Failing that buy a 'days out' magazine from a local newsagent to get a buy 2 get one free voucher.
