Knowing what a softie I am I received an email from someone re an older boy border terrier in Dogs Trust, Liverpool who was picked up as a stray and never collected Now, a three legged border terrier is pretty noticeable so obviously his owners hadnt tried that hard to find him.

He looks so sad but I already have one dog with only 2 good feet

Anyone? You are welcome to cross post.
Likes and dislikes: Sam is a lovely older boy who came to us as an unclaimed stray so we have no history on him. He only has 3 legs but gets around fine and still loves his walks.
Type of home needed: Sam would probably suit a nice quieter home where he can still get the exercise and cuddles he needs. He is ok with other dogs aslong as they are quieter. He can live with children over 10yrs old and due to a lack of history he is not to be left for very long.

            Oh my word!
I would take him in a heartbeat, I've been thinking about an older dog that just wants a warm sofa for a while now, but I'm working full time until September and after that my schedule is a bit up in the air.
Would he be ok to be left if a dog walker popped in midday? Are you fostering him? He's very grey, how old do they think he is?0

No, Im not fostering him - he is in kennels at Dogs Trust. Its just that Im known for being a softie that someone contacted me about him - but I really cant take on another disabled dog at the mo. He was a stray, so I guess not that known about him. If you give them a ring they should be able to help. Poor little devil, who would not reclaim him.
Dont know about his age. Borders come in a variety of colours and that could just be "grizzle" and not an indication of his age. My border had "grey" when we got him and was only about 18 months/2 years old. The rescue should have a better idea from his teeth/behaviour.

 Fingers crossed for him.0

I might give them a ring tomorrow, I expect I wouldn't be suitable and the timing isn't perfect, but if nobody else can take him I'm sure I'd be a better home than a kennel, and no stairs in a flat!
I do have terrier experience, I bet being minus a leg doesn't diminish the personality at all! Never had a border but known a few, all mad as a box of frogs but lovely dogs.0

Awwwww, wee sweatheart - how could anyone let him go.....
Wish I could help.... but with 2 cats and a dog already mine really isn't what could be called a "quieter home".

No answer at the centre so far, I'll keep trying!0

Please do. I'd love to think he could be rehomed.:beer:0

Looks like Sam will probably have a new home soon, but not with me. It wasn't the best timing for me anyway so I'm glad somebody else wants him who's in a better position.0

Its not a done deal yet, so you could always give them a ring and let them know you're interested in case this home falls through for any reason.
Although you might get some funny looks walking two 3 legged dogs, especially if its the same leg missing!0
