Dear All
I have recently received a letter from UKPC demanding parking charges. However I was only offloading my children and it also shows in photo.
I wrote to them three times explaining them that my car was not parked/stationery and they are stll demanding parking charges. In last letter they are threatning to pass details to debt recovering agency. Can somebody advice as as I am stressed out;
- will it affect my credit rating
- do I need to go to police for harrasment
- do I have an option to inform FSA or other credit agency
Thanks

You made a big mistake in writing to these clowns in the first place. From now on ignore them and do not contact them again. As to referring you to a debt recovery agency, don't worry. They are just a bunch of private citizens with no special powers. Your credit history will not be affected. Don't bother with the police as they will just say its a "civil matter".

Unfortunately by writing you have encouraged them! I know it may seem reasonable to write and explain your situation to them. Unfortunately all these companies are interested in is your hard earned.
However as you have already been advised the threats are all bluff, a debt collector cant do anything except ask you to pay, nothing else!
Simply file any future letters under ignore, and forget them!0 -
It is a Scam, if you pay them as proven on these forums they come back for MORE money claiming you paid late, then again and again.
What you need to do is ignore them, they will send half a dozen "silly letters" which will contain all sorts of silly threats about courts and debt collectors, then they will "pretend" to be a solicitor taking you to court, but they never will because it is all a scam and you do not owe them any money and the law says that they can not issue you with a fine or a penalty, which is what they have just done.
Ignore them and Ignore everything they send.
They are bullies, crooks and thief's and your children need that money, time for some mother hen and stand up to them and protect your children from having to go without because some bullies asked you for their dinner money.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. To the OP.
Given that you have used the title "harassed mum", I believe these two words carry a lot of weight. I hope you are convinced by the advice from all those to have posted above this remark. I see that as a fledgling, you are concerned about the terminology "debt collector" which I too once upon a time believed to be serious. The whole caper is a scare tactic which is designed to unsettle their targets and bully them into handing money over. Private firms are bound by Contract Law - they do not issue penalties; to claim they do in any literature is a criminal offence. Contract Law dictates that a person who breaches a contract must pay a sum equal to actual losses by the claimant. Companies may NOT declare that "breach of terms" makes you liable for an extraordinary arbitrary sum. Whilst you are advised to ignore but have already entered into correspondences with these people, I advise you to switch tactics.
Write one more letter and tell them that you have investigated the matter and that you KNOW their demands to be unlawful. Inform them (the PPC - NOT any debt collector) that they must discontinue writing to you immediately and if they believe you have a debt, they may commence litigation. You have now made your position clear so any further letters from them or ANY third party ARE cases of harassment (the name you use). Before they know it, they - who never planned to go to court in the first place as it is a bluff - will find themselves squirming like dogs before a magistrate. Naturally, I would like you not to feel "harassed" but don't tell the police "it doesn't bother me because I know they are liars", tell them, "I asked them to take the matter to court, they refuse and continuously demand I now owe them this much" - then show them the letters. Let the cops know you are "tormented by the fear". That will sort those idiots out.0 -
IGNORE THEM! Their sole aim is to rip you off..illegally.
They have no authority. If you accept liability or write they will only chase you for more money..of which they will not be able to get because they are not acting within the law.
You cannot reason with the ignorant.
This is a civil matter and not a criminal one, remember that.
