Just read a joke email, but it had a good tip -
SHOPPERS When buying oranges, get more for your money by peeling them before taking them to the counter to be weighed
Would make you wholly unpopular with tesco, but hey, as if we care!0 -
Hello everyone
This week so far I have spent £8.58 on my groceries and am quite happy with that, it is £1.42 under my budget of £10.00 for the week ending 28.01.2007 and I have everything I will need now until the end of the week so should not need to spend any money for any more groceries. I'm hoping that this will be a good month for me, and am really looking forward to the next challenge as next month I will allocate £5.00 a week for groceries as I have £10.00 ASDA voucher, £10.00 M&S voucher, £15.00 Sainsbury's Nectar points and am hoping to only spend that on groceries, but will put aside the £5.00 a week in case something unexpected comes along.
Thanx to everyone for your support and I love reading all the posts, it gives me ideas and is a great encouragement, thanx.

Could I just ask Busygirl how you've managed to stick at that amount, I would like to take up the challenge for next month but don't have a clue what our shoppping bill is, I must admit I do like to buy organic stuff and realise I can't get everything organic but I still think £180 is a bit difficult, please could you give some advice, I also like my wine so I guess that would have to be cut down as well.0

I spent £10 in my local high street this morning, £3 of that was on detangling spray from the chemist. I did however get enough meat for 8 meals, 2 boxes of washing power and a box of chocolate cakes and 1 weeks worth of food for the guinea pigs.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Your high street sounds very cheap Moggins, £10 inc meat for 8 meals! Blooming heck! I wouldn't even get the meat for that.
Spent a couple of £ today on bread flour, butter, peas and potatoes, have added to my spending so far. Determined not to have a blow out/take away and waste what I have left from the budget! I think I might revise my meal plans to make it last until the 31st. Then I will know what I do and don't need to spend! One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
Wow, , Moggins, wish my local shops were so good, it's nothing but Woolies and estate agents here.
I have saved £200 on the maximum amount I allowed myself so far this month and I'm slowly getting into the OS way of life-ie:not rushing into buying stuff that I have/can cook or make. I think it's going to take me a long time, as I've been a rash spender for so many years. Only problem is, I haven't recorded purchases very well, so although I know how much I've spent this month, I don't know exactly how much ofl that was on food.0 -

Only joking! I spent way more - a bit of a splurge. Oh dear, I really ought to be kept away from shops. Sainsbury's, Superdrug, Tescos, greengrocer, hardware shop and Nettos... but I did get a chicken at about a third off, some cheap fruit & veg, those two treacle tarts I mentioned earlier for £1 and some stuff for packed lunches, er... among other things.Miggy

The street I live in is very good I must admit. We have two butchers, a bakery, a largeish co-op, a chemist, two small convenience stores and a newsagent. We also have a post office, charity shop and a fishing tackle shop. Unfortunately we also have 5 pubs and 6 hairdressers. Round the corner we have a greengrocer and florist, an off licence and a computer shop and 5 minutes walk in the opposite direction gives two asian supermarkets and an asian butcher. The hardware store is virtually opposite my house.
I won't mention the 4 takeaways as they don't see our custom very oftenOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things
