cavity wall insulation

I've just been on the energy saving site (government one). I think I qualify for free cavity wall insulation. So I'm thinking of filling in a form. The property is a 1930s terrace - to me it seems a 'warm' house though obviously we do have some heating on in the winter. The boiler is probably 20 odd years or more old so not efficient. Can't afford to do anything about it though. I think they are £1000's to replace? So cavity wall insulation. I am a bit nervous about contacting these companies like edf who say they'll do it for free anyone done this? thanks

i've just had mine done this week through british gas , the company they use is dyson insulation and the 2 guys that did the job were very good and did a great job .
BG has an allowance for the type of house you live in , detached , semi or terraced , and depending on the size of your house will determine the amount of subsidy availalbe for you . unfortunately for me i live in a staggered terrace so i have one side of the house that has a large wall so i had to pay a £50 , but you should get it done for free

If you are a mid terrace CWI is often not worth it as there isn 't much of a cavity once you take out openings for windows and doors.
