Royal mail nightmare....

Options
A few weeks ago I went into my local post office and paid for a re-direction of mail due to moving shortly, cost a fair bit for 2 names, more than I had anticipated but there we go. Had confirmation in the post at both my old and new address to say the re-direction had been set up successfully and would start from 14th July, however, it's not happened, the mail is still being delivered to the old address just lucky I still have the keys for the old property for another week so at the moment I can still keep collecting it.

I have contacted Royal mail customer service's and sent an e-mail but all I seem to be told is they will contact the local delivery office and tell them of the problem and if that does not work to call back and they can escalate it?? I took it upon myself to call the local delivery office and the useless person I spoke to there just said 'well we have the re-direction details here and they are correct, usual postman etc so should not be a problem' not sure how this helps me though as clearly something is not right.

I am just really concerned my mail is going to continue going to the old address and some stranger will know all my personal info etc if it's not sorted asap. Just wondered if anyone has had a similar situation or the knowledge of what action I should take next? Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance :)

keep complaining as your ex-postie is not doing his job right,
i forget now and again when its hectic, but they might add a note to the frame making sure it get redirected.
our office is always getting pulled for not doing them, but these days theres quite a few walks that get sorted by a postie who doesn't deliver it, hence he sorts 99% of it and goes onto his own duty,
he cant do the redirections because there will be missorts still to do and quite often a late starter who expects the mail to be bagged up and ready to go isn't!
in the rush they get left, i know of 1 duty in our office that can take 30 minutes to do them, he gets the same time as a duty that takes 2 minutes,
not right, but the time given to do the job to perfection is usually unrealistic now, hence other posts about gates left open, recorded mail been pushed through, walking over gardens etc

    contact the (old) delivery office
ask them to check they actually have a redirection in place for you with the correct details(eg flat numbers etc)
then ask them to put an advisory on the frame
ask to speak to a manager and take their name

Thank you for the replies. I have contacted the old delivery office about it and the person I spoke to said the re-direction was in place and all the details were correct. I asked to speak to their manager but as it was a Saturday he was not there so I have taken his name and I am going to ring back first thing Monday morning and I will ask for a reminder to be put on the frame as recommended for the old address. Thanks again for the advice :)
