Reconsideration or appeal for DLA

Ok, my DD was awarded DLA last month-low rate care. I was not happy when I rang them when they told me how the decision maker had come to his/her conclusions. So they sent me a couple of letters with a SAE. Its saying I need to send in my evidence and it can take 11 weeks to hear back.
Is this for a reconsideration or appeal?
I havent even had her proper award letter yet, just one page saying she has been awarded £78.20 per month.

You have been told that by appealing you risk her current award?0 -
No, not mentioned, however I hve read there can be a risk, but due to significant changes that for some reason were not considered I am hopeful the reconsideration is successful.
Should I be sending orginal copies of supporting lettrs, or photocpies?0 -

Do not - IMO - send originals, at least of documents you can't reconstruct.
They've at least once (I suspect twice) managed to lose documentation from me.
It's been received by them - and they have a record of signing for it, but it never hit my file.
Exception to this is I think the doctors certificate, if you need to send it - which will be needed to be an original.0
