CD player came with car jumps when we go over bumps!!!!

Options
We've had our car for just over a year (second-hand) and loved the fact it came with a CD player because littl'uns love listening to music and it keeps them happy :D:D But the music jumps when we go over a pot-hole or traffic hump - I don't understand how this can be with a car CD player. On my old walkman I had a switch to turn anti-shock thingy on or off depending on whether it was being worn or on a flat surface. Surely car CD players come with something like this as standard because who is only going to listen to music when at a stand-still?

Can anyone make any sense of this please? MC

my old cd player did the same thing had to buy a new one that had the 3-4 secs delay that you mention in the walkman. I guess the earlier cd players expect you to aviod the pot holes and as the the speed bumps they were few and fair between 10yrs ago, they've multiplied x30 where i live GRrrrrrrrrrrrrr. so they assume your going to drive on nice flat roads.

i had a friend come over from abroad and they asked me what all the bumps in the middle of the road was for. i explain and they said "so you pay millions in tax repairing the roads making them nice and flat , then you go and put bumps in the road to slow the cars down. why dont you just leave the road with the pot holes which will slow us down and save on the tax!"

oh the only other thing it could be is the cage that the radio sits in might not be screwed into the frame of the dashboard tight enough and its wobbling abit, get someone to check it for you
  • My Sony car stereo does exactly the same thing. I've just bought a new sony car stereo though as the radio stopped working on the old one. I'll have to drive over a few bumps to see if the new one has the same problem!
