hi ,
first question .... a utility on a cdrw will not open , says i do not have permisssion to open and install it . how do i get around this or do i have to copy it to a file and alter the read only permission
2nd question,
a relative of mine is using an unauthorised copy of xp sp2 ... all was fine then he tried to install ms x .... it gets right to the end and gives an 1722 error followed by a 1603 error .
something about windows installer , we updated java , but can update windows installer , ok i know its unauthorised and he shouldnt be using it but he cant use his authorised copy as its on a rebuild disc that no longer works due to the fact hes had a new motherboard
any help would be really appreciated

sorry but you shouldn't be asking about copyright theft here - the original disk won't be valid as it would be supplied as an oem disk and therefor only valid for the original computer.
As to your problem, try logging in as an administrator or giving your current user account administrator privalidges.0 -
Are you trying to run a program from the CDRW? The disk is intended for storage. Depends on how the disc was formatted to begin with, but I would copy the file to the hardrive and run from there.
. MS don't check the validity of the disc you use to install, it's the licence that comes on the machine they are interested in. The licence key is issued with the PC, it's the sticker that's on the base.ok i know its unauthorised
I would format the HD and reinstall using the key on the PC. Then register it and run the updates (including SP2) from MS web site.0
