in Credit cards
First off, sorry if these threads crop up often, but I couldn't find anything similar when I searched.
After a lot of thought I have decided to get myself a CC. I haven't had one before mainly because I haven't had any use for them, and my parents have swayed me away (they are very anti-debt).
The main reason I have decided to get a credit car is because I want to build up my credit history, and use the card as a tool. I am quite organised and have a lot of self control so I like to think I will use it for the right reasons.
Basically I am:
- 21 yo
- F/T Student
- P/T Employed (~400/m)
- Bank with Barclays, Nationwide and Cahoot.
- No debt
I just want to know what is best for me, or shall I not bother? I want to learn about credit cards but not the hard way - hence why I am here

I'm 19 myself and earn less than you as as student.
I'd try your own bank, they'll probably give you a fairly low limit.
Spend on it and pay it off in full each month
And make sure you're on the electrol role before you apply
