Same as SarEl, JSA is there for those with no job, no other money and are looking for work with the intention of getting back into work ASAP. They're legally and morally entitled to claim IMO. It's those who won't work who get short shrift on here.Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.0

Well, so far no luck!! Rang jobseekers Direct, who gave me the number for the switchboard saying they'll know who I should talk to. They put me through to my local job centre, who said nothing they can do there as i'm not currently signed on with them (expected as much), and they gave me the number for the tax credits office and said to ring them. Tried but they'd given me a number that didnt work, so looked up the right number online and they said nothing they can do as i'm not claiming tax credits. So tried ringing local tax office, and they say nothing they can do apart from send me a letter saying my last employer according to their records, but said it won't prove anything more than a P45 does. So i've rang back my potential employer and left them an answer message asking for more information on what they can accept as proof, and asking for a call back. If I hear one more automated telephone menu system i'll scream!!!0

I think you might as well go down and sign on and then you will have what is needed. waste of everyone time and money but you get the job.
Just a though do job center people get bonuses for how many people they get into jobs.
This is a no brainer for a fast track here the bit of paper you need one person on/off the list quickly0 -

I understand it may not be the employer's fault if the role is govt funded but if employers don't speak up no one can help change these ridiculous guidelines. If the poster is picked as the top candidate for the job, and the last hurdle is not getting the role on this very silly technicality, can no one else see how ludicrous that is? How on earth is the poster supposed to prove it?
If it's a job where you have to prove that you're currently unemployed then it is probably along the lines of New Deal.
The employer will possibly be getting either a grant or help towards wages of the person they employ if they come off the unemployment figures.
I cannot see how challenging a prospective employer would get the OP anywhere, who is going to employ someone who is challenging them even before an interview?
If the job's only open to the unemployed then that person has to be in the unemployment figures generally for 6 months.0 -

At the very least the OP should call them to understand why it is they need only this type of proof so that if he/she cannot provide it, they're not wasting anyone's time least of all their own.0 -
The employer has agreed to take my P45 as proof, very glad!!! Thanks for all the help everyone0
