Hello
I am moving on 13th Aug and am currently with EON for electric (no gas here). I am only moving across the car park to another flat but my flatmate is moving in 2 weeks before me so the bills are all in her name.
So question is how much notice do I need to give EON that I moving but not staying with them? I tried looking ont he website but can only see about moving and staying with EON.
Thanks in advance

Hi, you could just ring them but I think it's best to write now giving them notice that you are leaving your current address on 13 Aug.
It does not make any difference to them whether or not you are the account holder at your new address- even if you were you could not transfer the account over anyway, you would finish that account and then if you wanted to you could sign up with them again later .(see below).
When you move into a different property you initially have to register with the supplier that was supplying the previous occupant and then once registered with them ( on a standard tariff so you don't get locked in with them ) you can then start a switch to a different supplier.
They usually like you to give your new address in case they need to chase you for any oustanding payments !
The most important thing is to make sure you read your meters on the day you are moving out. If feasible get them to send a meter reader on that day.0 -

Hi flutterbyuk25,
Already some good info on the thread. Just wanted to clarify a few points.
You can email E.ON with your moving details by using the contact us form on the website. (or you can ring)
We will just need the date you are moving, a forwarding address and your final meter readings, this will ensure that you get an accurate final bill.
You don't need to give your details for the new property if you are not going to be responsible for the bills.
If you need any more info, just let me know.

My Daughter recently moved into a property whereto E.ON was the supplier for gas and electric. We phoned them to let them know she was the new owner, and also gave them the meter readings that we took immediately when entering the property after collecting the keys. They checked these readings against those given by the previous owner, who I know for a fact, because he told me, that he read the meters the day before the move. The gas reading was slightly different. When she received her first bill, which was estimated, they used the initial readings supplied by the previous owner, and not the ones supplied by us. The difference was minimal so we didn't make a fuss, but I feel there is a principal involved.
She has now changed supplier.0 -

Hiya scrimper88,
How do you currently pay your bills? If it is by monthly Direct Debit then we will collect the final balance from your bank account, once the final bills have been produced. Unless of course you cancel this.
If you pay on receipt of the bills, then the best thing to do is provide your move out details and final meter reads, get the final bills and then contact us to set up a payment arrangement.
We would normally expect payment on receipt of the bill, but we can offer arrangements if needed. Normally about 3 months, again this may be extended in some circumstances to 12 months.
You can always come to me if you need my help with it.
Congratulations and good luck with the new baby
