AnnualMultiTrip.com charged me £43.94 for a policy I haven't bought

I have just checked my credit card statement and seen that Annual Multi Trip.com has charged me £43.94 for a policy I haven't bought!
Yes, I bought an annual policy with them last year but I don't remember seeing a box or clicking abox to automatically renew this. I have previously bought one year policys from other companies and they have never automatically renewed without informing me!
I am really annoyed right now - money is tight and I can't afford to waste money like this. I have tried calling Annual Multi Trip but they are closed at weekends (surprise, surprise). I don't have access to my old email account which is the address I used to purchase the original policy in 2010 so I don't know of they have contacted me at all.
What can I do? How can I cancel this policy and get a refund?
Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you.

can you not log into your details on their website, manage your booking0

Phone your bank and tell them you didn't authorise the transaction and you didn't agree to a CCA (continuous credit authority), assuming you didn't, and demand a chargeback.0
-
Is it within 14 days of purchasing the policy as you have a 14 day cooling off period from the day of purchase.0

I too have insurance with them, received an email a few weeks before end of first policy talking about automatic renewal and if i didn't want to renew automatically i had to log in and alter something..assuming you would have had this as well!Save £12K in 2013 £4000/90000

Thanks, good idea, but I purchased it in 2010 though moneysupermarket.com and didn't set up an account with them. It was just click, click, pay.
Can't believe they haven't posted me written confirmation or anything!
On the credit card bill there is no reference/transaction number so I don't even have this to quote to them!

Thanks, but unfortunately I no longer have access to the email address I used to purchase the original policy in 2010, (stopped using the account and it has been closed).
Will be phoning them asap on Monday morning.:hello: Trying my best to money save! :j:grinheart Sealed Pot Challenge 6 #2100 :grinheart0 -
Just an update: I called them on Monday and the money was refunded to my account on Tuesday. (customer service could be a bit more polite though!)

Similar thing happened to me. I received an e-mail informing me that my policy would be automatically renewed. I'm normally dilligent about auto renew policies as I like to shop around. I don't remember opting in for this - perhaps it's a case of having to opt out..... which I feel would be unfair. I've e-mailed and called them to instruct not to renew.0

@ Miele: You should just be able to ring them up and confirm your name, address and DOB. They'll be able to locate your policy from those details alone.
Also, I know this doesn't help your situation, but Insure & Go are another one to watch.
A couple of years ago I bought an annual multi-trip policy for my then boyfriend (I had a separate policy with another insurer) and was horrified to discover the following year that they had renewed it without bothering to inform me.
To add insult to injury, when I called them to cancel they declined to do so because the policy wasn't in my name and cancelling it would breach the data protection act. And yet they saw fit to charge MY credit card in SOMEONE ELSE'S name without informing me?! No amount of pointing out how crazy this was could persuade the customer service agent to cancel the policy and refund the money. In the end I had to get my by that time ex-boyfriend to call them up and cancel. If I don't respond to your posts, it's probably because you're on my 'Ignore' list.0
