Recommend sealer for plaster

Hi, can anyone recommend a sealer/primer for bare plaster which has dried out properly from several months ago. I think it's more expensive than normal paint, so any recommendations will be welcome. I can visit local Wilkinson, B&Q, Homebase or Wickes.
Thanks

Do you mean emulsion paint which is watered down? So i don't need anything "special"?

Yes just standard emulsion paint (cheap contract) is fine - mix 50/50 with water, using a good roller coat the fresh plaster - it will look cack but gives it a basis for stage 2.

    stage 2

Mix 70paint/30 water and use this as a second coat.

After this do 2 coats of finishing colour.

Make sure at all stages that you allow a few hours for the paint to dry befroe next coats.

Our plasterer suggested watered-down emulsion, but I went for the Plaster Sealer from B&Q's own-brand range, which worked well for me.

One coat of the sealer, two coats of full-strength finish colour, and that got the nod from SWMBO
  • I last used cheap emulsion with some water. No tricks, just eyeball to get it thin enough but not like tea.

My man at the paint shop told me if I wante to use a PVA sealer I could go elswhere and buy the paint because he wasn't going to be responsible for any future problems.

    Do as plamemad suggests.
