My V reg Renault Megane Scenic Sport has just developed a drip from the sunroof. is there anything I can buy that stops leaks? or is it possible to replace the seal?

Not had a car with a sun roof before so this is a new probelm for me.

Could be the rubber seal that has split, can you see the actual leak if it is the seal then should be able to replace, a breakers yard will be cheapest and then labour ! tempory patch up if you can find the leak a bit of silicone

I would imagine it must be the seal that the actual glass goes back into, still its worth getting someone to poor water on it and have a good look inside to see if you can find the actual area its coming in from, if you can find it then try a bit of silicone for a temporay measure and then price up a new seal against breakers yard one, if you know a mechanic it will be cheaper than taking into a garage.

I think they will try and get best part of a days money out of you for changing this !

hi, i think the problem could be water seeping in from the base of the car ariel.i had the same problem a few years ago with a laguna, and two clios.all three times the problem was fixed by putting a small amount of silicone into a small hole at the base of the ariel.hope this helps.

There is a drainage tube that runs from the corner of the roof gutter down through the metalwork between the the front door window and the windscreen, and comes out above the wing.

A long time since I have owned a Scenic but I remember having a problem with it.

    Poked around and cleared it.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

check out the renualt forums , plenty of tips there , although i had a scenic which leaked like a sieve , did various things suggested there but didn't manage to solve the problem http://www.renaultforums.co.uk/

try tipiing some water around the sunroof and see where it comes out
check the drainage holses in the corner of the sunroof frame , the bit that sits below the windscreen wipers , the aerial mounting ,which may need a bit of silicone sealer around it , and the plastic covers under the wheels arches tend to get clogged up with mud , there's 4 or 4 star screws to undo and then clear any mud out ,also i think my scenic leaked because i parked it on a slope , it never leaked when parked flat

I have a scenic and yes , the immobiliser circuit IS up around the area of the interior light which is where the OP says the drip is coming from.

OP I had the same problem in a previous secenic I owned and within a short period of time my immobiliser failed and so I had to get the 4 digit code and start the car using that method. Was a total pain in the butt !
The loopy one has gone :j
