I am a bricklayer i have been directly employed since february,i got a letter two weeks ago saying that due to lack of work there was a need to 'lay employees off'.i am used to this having been in the costruction industry for over 2o years,so after contacting them about my final weeks wages they stated they will pay by cheque,i said i wanted it paid into my bank account by bacs, they agreed,so i looked yesterday and no money had been paid in so i rang and they said a cheque was being sent,it hasn't arrived yet and it may arrive on monday which will be ok but i think they are stalling payment, they were always messing sub contractors about with wages,if i dont get a cheque on monday i am going down the office to confront them, what action can i take if they keep messing me about,it is really frustrating,i have been laid off and am having to chase money owed to me,i would be grateful for any ideas thanks
