Hi
I am looking for a laptop for my son, I would like to spend no more than £350, less is better in this case lol.
I've found this one - and my son doesn't mind having a refurbished machine but I was wondering if anyone knows of a better deal anywhere. I get lost with talk of processors and graphic cards. In fact, I focus on hard drive and memory sizes and wonder if I should think more about processors.
Thanks in advance for any ideas :-)

I would go with a dell, this one is £299 and you could use Quidco/Topcashback.

And spending a bit more on a laptop helps, you don't end up with a product that only lasts a year before you get bored or it grinds to a halt.0 -
The refurb for £300 looks expensive and the Dell is just OK (I am personally biassed away from Dell as I know of 2 people who have had issues with them; and you never see them with extended warranties.)
Memory and disk can be upgraded and the processor cannot (easily). Ignore graphics (all budget laptops will be similar) assuming you're not interested in recent 3D action games.
Cheapest new I'd go for this Acer for £259 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/241595 (note only has a single speaker but that shouldn't put you off).
And to ensure it lasts 3 years (cheap Acer's don't have the best reliability record) this cheap 3 year warranty for £30

Advent? Probably better to get a more widely supported machine.
If you like the Advent spec, then this ACER ASPIRE 5742Z is ok value at £259, but not spectacular.
This MSI CR630 for £274 has a BluRay player, but that is about as much use a chocolate teapot.
This ACER ASPIRE 5553 for £301 has a Quad Core CPU and dedicated graphics memory, but again doesn't set my heart alight.:)0
