If you've got AV sockets then try this Scart converter.

    Or try this modulator.

.... or update the TV. Plenty around in the sales.

    Useful article here.

Presumably the Freeview Box in question doesn't have RF/Coaxial output?

As the article suggests, it may be cheaper to get a different Freeview box, or alternatively connect it via a VCR or modulator.

Almost all Freeview boxes don't generate an RF signal. This is something that the government has chosen to ignore in the rush to get people to convert to digital - nobody's bothering to make cheap Freeview boxed which will actually work on older TVs. :(

The box you've linked to does not generate RF output.

Most of the boxes confuse people into thinking that they do, with wording like (as in your example) RF connection loop. All this means is that you can loop the RF connection through the digibox - meaning that you connect aerial socket to digibox to video recorder to TV, for example - but only the original analogue RF signal gets passed through.

What the OP needs is a digibox which generates an RF signal - i.e. which contains a modulator - which hardly any of them do.

What will sometimes work is to use your video recorder's RF signal generator, if it has one (and they don't all - one of ours does not). So, you connect the scart output from the digibox to the scart input of the video recorder, set the video recorder channel to AV1 or similar, and watch the digibox through the video recorder. Fine unless you want to record something different from what you want to watch - but the same problem would apply anyway unless you bought 2 digiboxes.

I'm not surprised that really old STBs did have RF generators - that's when they used to cost a reasonable price. Now that they cost buttons they have been de-spec'd and most don't include an RF generator - including the more expensive models - partially because they think it's reasonable to assume that most people have SCART sockets.

In reality, many people don't have SCART sockets and those that do, don't necessarily have enough for all of their appliances.
