Maestro Card at 18

I'm with Natwest, when I turned 18 I asked for a Maestro card. They gave me a form to fill in which they sent to their customer service centre and I received the card a week later.
Ask them to upgrade your account to current plus (but not their advantage gold one), and then try applying for the maestro card again, they might give it to you then.0 -
I'm 24 and not long ago I got married and changed my name with them.
They sent me a Solo card instead of the Maestro card I had been using.
I never knew there was a minimum criteria for getting a Maestro card, I know some posters on here work for Natwest so hopefully one of them will come along shortly to offer their advise.
Alternatively if you wanted to stick to a Maestro card both HSBC and Yorkshire Bank offer these.0 -

This is what they tried to do but it would only offer a Step account when they did it. Did you go into the branch to get a card or did you phone them and get sent a form? I might try ringing them and seeing what they can do but I think all they do is make an appointment in the branch.0 -
Hi Helix,
I had a similar problem getting a maestro card with the card plus account at natwest, so decided to wait till I could get the student account, when they were more than happy to give me a student credit card!
I still use my solo card mainly, but for the annoying shops/websites that don't take solo, I use my mastercard (and pay it off full each month!).
You should be able to get a cheque book with your card plus account though, just order one at a ATM.
Hope that helps,

I went into the branch and they gave me a leaflet/form for a servicecard. I took it home, filled it in then took it back to the branch which they then send on to their customer service centre to be processed there.
Try going into a branch and asking for an application form for a servicecard. There definitely is one so if they say there isn't ask to speak to someone else or try going into a different branch.0 -
I've got a servicecard 100 Maestro at Natwest. I'd like the 250 one. Is there certain conditions applied to that?0

Not sure what the requirements are for the 250 one but I assume a high income.0
