i had a similar problem a few days ago, as dh managed to shoot an arrow through the double glazed unit,
we had to remove it and measure it including the width, this was easier than i thought. we removed the rubber seal from around the window with a wallpaper scraper so as not to damage the strip. we also had to remove some edging from the outside of the frame too(but not all windows are like this) and the window just came out,
we have ordered a new one from a local supplier and it will cost about £40
but it is not very big, so that will depend on the size.
While on the subject........we also have uPVC glazing and the draught entering the room from the hinged edges of the opening windows is incredible. Is there a draught excluder specifically for uPVC windows?
