centrino duo the same as core duo?

hi can somebody tell me if centrino duo is the same as core duo in a laptop
the toshiba lappie i am looking at says it is centrino and the acer one says it is a core duo is there much difference

    "Centrino" is an Intel marketing brand/ploy.

    To qualify for the "Centrino" badge the laptop must use Intel versions of the CPU, mobo chipset and wireless network adapter.

    It was an effective way to get people to buy Intel based laptops.
