Hi All,

just a quickie, dunno if anybody can help, but over the last couple of days the warning system on our 2006 fusion 1.4tdci has been flashing up "boot open" error... any1 have any idea what the actual problem could be?

Cheers

Mike

could be a dodgy switch or the contacts aren't touching each other when the boot is shut. Sure someone who knows more about the fusion will be along shortly
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.

Thanks Pitkin, i thought it could be a dodgy switch or something, but all i can see is the catch for boot to lock - unless its built into that part of things..... i dunno... but i dont fancy paying garage prices to fault find the problem..... gonna try and borrow a fault code reader and see if that can shed some light on it...

    cheers

Try the ford forums if you get no luck here. It could all be built into the latch then again maybe not, i don't know for sure. No other obvious contacts around the boot??

nothing that i could see... have taken the cover of the boot this morning and jiggled some wires and found once connector that wasnt fully pushed in....

hopefully it was that causing the problem (i honestly dont know - why they make cars so damn complex nowadays is a mystery - will have to take it for a run later and see if the problem is still there - if not then ive cured it:j,

if it comes back will have to take the cover off again and see if its the same connector thats come loose again, if so i will blob some silicone across the two connectors to try and hold it together - probaby some cunning plan by ford so that the wiring loom part needs changing.... i dunno....

    thanks for the input pitkin
