What advantages does the 910 have over the 710 and is it worth the price difference?0

it has a 20 gb hard drive bulit in plus an mp3 player

I see, that is a bit different, only thing is are these practical as MP3 players, these units seem a bit bulky from what I have seen.
So I guess you use it to play in the car but surely the quality of the speakers cant be upto much...or are they.
I have had an Ipaq with Tom Tom 2 on it and a seperate Rikaline GPS but seems to be unreliable so looking to purchase a new set up or does anyone know if I would be aswell to purhase a new version of Tom Tom0 -

Yes, but from my research into SatNavs it seems that having a hard drive with moving bits as opposed to a solid state memory is a big disadvantage when it comes to the longevity of these devices. Having the HD constantly vibrating and shaking in the car doesn't seem like a very good idea and faults are well documented. Also as others have said am MP3 player within a satnav is a bit of a gimmick in my opinion.Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0

Didn't think about the Hard Drive issue, would agree the MP3 is a gimmick unless you hard wire it through your Header Unit in the Car and/or add the Ipod Control Option but then why not go direct to the Header Unit with the Ipod.
Just thought for £40 difference before any discounts based on PC Worlds current prices it was a better deal as has the Remote Control included it also includes the External Microphone for the Bluetooth Car Kit not sure if that is included with 510/710 plus the US/Canada Maps. But the biggest think I like is the Text to speech: even speaks street names and places. Tried it this morning very useful feature IMHOCheers

sjc wrote:I ordered mine Boxing Day, it was dispatched 27th via City Link although the Web Site said DHL and arrived next morning. Not sure when it appeared on QuidCo but was there today.
So delivery next working day and QuidCo within 2 days in my case.
Mine still says order is being processed. :-(
..... and no quidco.0 -
Just found this on HotUKDeals

It's a 510 for £209 delivered with free maps of Western Europe on DVD. This sounds like a bargain. I have a One that I need to but maps for France for, for the summer hols but am tempted to buy this one and ebay the One.
Plus its not got a hard disk. I've got a couple of SD cards round to stick the other maps on.

Well I can only speak from experience. Had my 910 since they were released and have never had the slightest problem with it - has worked flawlessly from day one.
I'm not aware of any documented problems with the HD on the 910, indeed HDs generally cope absolutely fine with vibrations, it's sudden hard knocks that cause the problems and you don't often get those while driving (depending on what kind of driver you are!)
The MP3 player function is just a bonus I guess (I use ot to play audiobooks on a long drive), as is the ability to store and display photos, but the other extras are very handy, especially the text-to-speech function which sounds surprisingly naturalistic, if a tad "clipped".
Awesome product and this is a really excellent price
