Quartz worktop problem, not sure what to do!

  • if Alan M say acetone is the product you better off using that but im pretty sure nail varnish remover will do the same and its a household product for most.
To find out if you have already taken the top coat off run the stanley blade over the area and if it doesnt catch where the stain is you can probably assume the mark is a hollow of the cover coming off rather than super glue sitting on the worktop.

Nail varnish remover is, on the whole, acetone.

But you can go into Boots and buy neat acetone, they usually have some small bottles in the pharmacy rather than out on open display.

I wonder if the 'dull' areas are where the 'chemical intensifiers' have been taken off by the superglue perhaps? Im not really sure how I would find out if samsung use this, but I like the idea that it can be 'easily reapplied is it something I could buy and apply myself'? A much better thought to sleep on! (Im worried sick, my OH has still not noticed , then again he doesnt do much near the hobb!) It cost us 3K and I feel like I have ruined it:(

I have washed it and rubbed it, but only with a washing up sponge (the soft side not the green abrasive side!)

Don't panic yet. Try the acetone, quartz is very resistant to chemicals, it's one of the notable advantages it has over granite.

After a trial on my sample piece, Acetone/nail varnish remover has worked on some areas which is great, thank you!!

There are other areas where it does really look like the top surface has come off, it even feels rough. Im assuming this was me as I rubbed to try and remove the glue with a sponge (I used the soft side, but did rub for a while!)

I will try and take a picture and post it up of I can. it looks grey compaired to the rest of the black surface, and i cant see the quartz pieces, its just plain grey.

As Ive got a sample piece, do you think it would be worth trying Halfords to see if they sell the windscreen resin stuff before calling a specialist?

First thing is get a product called Lithofin colour intensifier.

If that doesn't work then your best bet is getting someone in to look at it. Halfords won't sell what you're looking for, it's a bit specialist for them.

Alan M, thanks so much for all your advice. Ive found this available locally :

It a colour intensifier, says its suitable for food prep areas, but its not lithofin, is lithofin an ingredient or just a brand name?

Lithofin is a brand name, much as Fila is in the link you posted above.

Probably much of a muchness, I've just no experience of Fila so can't really comment on it.
