Where to put my savings?

Hi,
I currently have £4000 in a Nationwide e savings plus account and think looking at this...
http://www.nationwide.co.uk/savings/all_accounts/all_accounts.htm
I get 1.6% p.a which I don't think is the best!
I'm saving and don't need the money at the moment so is there something better I could put this money in like an ISA etc?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Consider ns&i Index-Linked Savings Certificates for any money that you won't need for a year.Free the dunston one next time too.0

IIRC the T&C on that account are such that if you close it, you lose accrued interest since the last opening anniversary (or the rate is reduced to something even more paltry). So withdraw the money but leave the account open until next anniversary.0

I would buy inverse etf´s in some stock market indices since there is a high probability we go down for several months.
But then one should also use a so called stop loss if the unexpected does occur.Sell at resistance and buy at support...:j0 -

I actually beleive in investing in equities.
But that isn't what the OP asked about.0 -

Risk is something personal as well. What might be gambling for you is certainly not for me.
Do you consider buying stocks now gambling? I sure do since we are around the same levels as when the market started to decline in 2007. For other reasons as well.Sell at resistance and buy at support...:j0
