    Yes, as timberflake suggests, a clean install of XP will probably speed up your PC. This would see you right for 12 months.

    If you're not up to it then do a spring clean - get rid of unused software, delete old files, run Spybot/Adaware and defrag.

    Clean install is best though.

    Thank you all for your replies - I've delved into msconfig and disabled some programs there but it's still being fairly sluggish. I've uninstalled a few items too.

    The problem with a clean install is that this PC originally came with a Win Me restore pack, but I got Win XP Pro after I upgraded using a friend's CD with one spare license - however, I've now only got access to a Dell XP Home restore pack (relative purchased a Dell desktop) but am unsure of whether it is wise to use this as a clean install CD for my system which came from Tiny... :think:

    It sounds like a clean install might be risky.
