Which carpet deodorizer?

Problem with a seriously smelly carpet.

Carpet was grubby but didn't seem to smell. It was washed with a RugDoctor and it now smells awful. The smell permeates through the whole house, it's very musty.

I've been advised to wash it again using a carpet deodorizer instead of shampoo and to put a dehumidifier in the room as well as turn up the heating.

I don't know what deodorizer to use though? Would a disinfectant like Zoflora do or is there some sort of specialised thing I need to use?

Not used it for your reason, but the nicest 'deodoriser' I have used to freshen my carpets against 'eau de dog'
is a tin of No Vac. Available at most supermarkets around £2 a tin.

I've used HG Eliminator for isolated vomit. Does the job well, but you'd need a lot for a whole carpet.

Is the carpet a wool one? Or wool mix? If its 100% polyproplene then it can take any modern disinfectant that you fancy. If its wool then I wouldnt know.
