can you please tell me why i can't open an english bank account when i live abroad? i am a british citizen, my pension is paid direct to an english account and i pay british tax. all i want to do is open a new account to transfer money cheaper to france.

    I may say that sometimes, it really depends on the bank's discretion. However, what does the exact reason for you not having an English bank account?
