just been made redundant.

I have been made redundant and finish work next Friday. I wont be getting a payout as I have been there less than a a year. I have never been out of work before and wondered what I need to do about claiming any benefits I am entitled to and where to go to claim. I am completely in the dark about where to start.

Many thanks

foxybabe - can commiserate with you. Was made redundant myself last month which "dismissal" date being 11th July. There is a number you telephone - direct gov website will give this out. It is about 30 minutes long and they take all the details. They will ask where your nearest JobCentre is so try and find this out. They will then make an appointment for you to go up and register at the JobCentre. I have signed on for Jobseekers Allowance which is £67.50 a week -try and stay positive. I'm good at saying things like that but some days it is just not possible. I have been applying for jobs ever since I found out (beg June) but have nothing yet - no-one even responds to you and I've found the Agencies worse than useless to be honest.
