I have had a Mondeo for six years and I love it, however:
We had a brand new Focus Ghia as a courtesy car a couple of years ago, and it was pants. The six speed box was annoying, it had no guts, it rattled and was a harsh ride even on motorways and the inside was very uninspiring, and I was glad when we got the old Mondeo back.
One of our neighbours has a Vovlo V50, and it is in a different class to Focus - middle to top of the Premiership compared to bottom of the Championship in football terms.
Just because cars share a floorpan, it doesn't mean they are the same, a good example being the X type and the Mondeo - chalk and cheese, the finishing touches on Jaguars are superb, and the soundproofing and comfort are up there with the very best.

I agree, the Mondeo is a reliable car.

Well yes, I'm not arguing that they are identical. It's like saying that Audis are basically Skodas. It's true but they do get nicer plastics and better seats and a bit more sound proofing.

The important bits though, the engine and the brakes and the steering, they're the same, the bits that are going to cause you problems if they break.

If the OP was asking to compare Audi and Volvo, I wouldn't have even mentioned Ford, likewise if they were comparing Skoda and Ford I would not have suggested a Volvo.
