Business name for comms company needed please!

Hi all,

I'm starting my own telecoms company mainly dealing with CISCO routers and switches initially, both sales and support. I would also like to utilise the company to receive funds gained from the odd spot of contracting I do (Telecom related).

I have read the various rules for names including, no abbreviations, no hyphens, preferably not name based (too old fashioned) and preferably describing what you do. There are numerous possibilities if using the words communications, or Telecom(s), or Networks, but I am struggling to come up with something that stands you out from the crowd!

I'm a bit of an sad individual and would like something Sci-fi or space related such as Enterprise Telecom, or Quantum Comms, but would these be appropriate?

Looking through Yell there seems to be 70-80% of firms with either dull or non descriptive names out there. I'd prefer not to be in that group.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

How about getting all retro - 'The Western Bell Electrical Telecommunications Company" - nice job for a designer to make you a retro logo etc, and stands out from the crowd, compared with all the glib made-up words. For an in-joke, you could even have EST: 2011 in your logo...

Just had a thought of Krell Communications (being a fan of the forbidden planet!) and the krell being a more advanced race etc etc...??

Heh a geeky in-joke - it'll pass most people by, but it may get you the gig if the buyer is also a Forbidden Planet fan ;-)

Red5comms or Red5communications????

It has the 'what it is' part and Red5 sounds cool and refers to Star Wars. Again very sad I know!!
