ISA Transfer Funds missing

Please can anyone help me get my money back.
My husband and I actioned the transfer of our 2009/10 cash ISA's at the end of March. They began life as A&L accounts, but became Santander ones in the meantime. We wanted to transfer them to Halifax, so we filled in the forms with our personal details and left it with them. My husbands has gone through fine, with letters at intervals stating that the funds were being transferred etc.
But with mine nothing happened until middle of May. I received a letter from the Halifax saying there was a delay and they were waiting for information from Santander.
Phoned Santander - they said they sent funds on 26th March. They later found out that the account no they had sent the funds to was incorrect, because one of the digits had been misinterpreted - a 2 had been entered as an 8. I don't believe I wrote this part of the form as the account no would have been allocated after we left the premises.
I've had several letters since from both parties saying they're investigating.
The current position is that Santander say the funds were sent and never got returned to them from the Halifax, and Halifax are saying they never received the funds in the first place. Both my accounts are at £0.00, and both companies are saying they can't find my £3,726, and to speak to the other party.
What do I do? I would like to withdraw the funds, but I don't have access to them until one party acknowledges that they have them, so at the moment it is simply not my money.
Thanks.

You need to raise a formal written complaint to the Halifax. Address will be on the web site. They have 8 weeks to produce a definitive reply.
Make sure is written - not a phone call.
Keep it concise, to the point, listing facts, dates, times as appropiate in clear paragraphs. Point out that this has gone of for x months and request that it is sorted out without any further delay.
You should not be chasing the funds from Santander yourself - or being asked to.
The ISA transfer proceedure should be handled internally between Halifax & Santander being the two Isa managers.
From what you say in your post this has gone on far too long as it is.
I'd have given it a full month then started the complaints proceedure, that way it forces them to really address the situation rather than write endless letters blaming each other.
Hope you get it sorted and do let us know the result.0
