Open University Financial Support for K101 Understanding Health and Social Care

Hi Everyone,
I hope someone will be able to advice me as i have tried calling open university but have been on hold for days and cant seem to get through, they are not running at their usual service
I have had an email through saying i have a place on the K101 understanding health and social care that starts in Feb 2012. The Oct 2011 is full but i am on the waiting list. I have been given the full £700 financial support due to my low income job and living with my parents.
My question is if the course starts in feb 2012 and i have already been approved for the funding does it matter if my circumstances change after the course starts?
My boyfriend and i are hoping to move in togther next year and im wondering if this will effect the funding as his income will then be taken into account, but by that time i will have already started the course. Am i making any sense? :rotfl:
Basically i just wanted to know if me moving next year will effect the funding in anyway? And also do i need to stay in the same job? As to make it more complicated i want to leave my job when i can and wondered if this will effect the funding too
I'm not sure if i should inform the open university of these possible changes or not?
Id really appreciate any help
Thanks
Nicole

Hi Nicole,
I applied for the October start and put on the waiting list and put forward for the Feb start....Ive now have a place in Oct so chances are you may still get on the course....
And as for the financial support part....go to the website and fill out the eligibility checker stating you and your partner are living together and see whether the amount you would be entitled to changes much.....
However, If you leave it until after Feb for you to move in with each other, I can't see how they could justify taking the money back off you (as long as you haven't misrepresented any info at the time) I believe eligibility is all about your circumstances before the start of the course..as you would have to pay course fees before the start etc....
Hope at least some of what i have said makes sense
It may be a good idea to have a chat with the Uni, that way you'll know for sure! I know their phone answering skills are crap at the mo.....alternatively, email them...it may take a little longer to have a reply but at least you wont be hanging around on hold for hours!!
Hope you manage to sort stuff out and good luck with the course

I've just phoned the OU to ask them (posing as a new person) and they said if I start the course in February and them my job or living situation changes it has no effect on my financial support. It will only make a difference when I apply for the next course 2nd year as I will have to declare I live with my partner and send my new P45 to show my income which might by then he higher, fingers crossed!:D
I feel a lot better now knowing nothing is going to crop up and cause problems. I just need to do the work and pass the course now!:rotfl:Saving my pennies for my wedding on 10th August 2013!

Hi All,
I have recently applied for this course for the feb 2012 start date. How have you guys found it so far (assuming you've all started by now!)?
Any feedback/advice would be much appreciated!0 -
