Error Code 28 On Iphone 3

Morning Everyone

I wonder if someone could help with my problem.

I put my phone in my pocket last night while it still had lots of battery left and when I took it out later to check it, there was nothing on the screen, just complete dead and it wouldn't turn on again.

This morning I tried to follow the instructions for doing a restore via Itunes, however it gets so far and then says Restore wouldn't complete because of error code 28 - anyone got any ideas please?

I've read some other forums where some peoople have been quoted £199 for repair - I don't think so! lol

WHat version of the phone? 3G? 3GS? or earlier?
Did you jail break it? Did you download apps from the app store ater doing this?
Have you tried different versions of itunes?

Ive got a 3gs 16gb.

The version of Itunes is 10.1 (?)

I didn't jailbreak it.

I didn't download any apps after that either.

I charged it overnight using the adapter and got a white background, so just recently tried plugging it into itunes and it started doing the restore, then came up with error code 28.

Now at the moment, it's just turned on again, and straight back off again. Now got black screen for now.

A quick web search would suggest this may be a hardware fault then.

Error code 28 would appear to be a fault when the device gets stuck in restore mode and it looks like people have had success shifting it but then seems to have the same issue down the line. This post may help you though;

If you're still within warranty then it would be worth finding your nearest Apple store and seeing if they can do anything.
