Ebay item not delivered - lost postage reciept

I posted an item to a buyer on the 1st July recorded delivery, it hasn't arrived yet.
The post office told me to allow at least 15 WORKING DAYS before they would consider there to be a problem. Also - recorded items cannot be tracked as such, they simply require a signature. The postage number would only be of use after this signature has been obtained to prove that it has been accepted and signed for.

I've informed the buyer of this but they have opened a dispute - my first ever!!!!

The buyer originally took 3 days to pay saying she didn't know how to do it and would have to get her boyfriend to do it for her. I'm sort of suspicious that she won the item in error and rather than me dispute her for non-payment, she has paid and now said item hasn't arrived and disputed against me in order to get her money back.

She has not got 100% feedback, there are negative comments.
I, on the other hand have 100% feedback and have never had any disputes.

My big problem is that i cannot find the receipt for the postage so am i !!!!!!ed?
I most probably am, and it's my own fault for losing the reciept.
I'm just hoping Ebay will consider my record otherwise i'm gonna be out of pocket.
It's just niggling me that it's a scam and i'm being had!!!!!!!

TO be fair, you can't expect your buyer to wait until you get your refund from the post office, so you need to refund them - if you told them to wait 15 working days, then it's not surprising they opened a dispute, as I certainly would have too.

If you've lost your receipt, then I'm afraid there's not much you can do.

Ebay won't consider your record. What does it prove? Unless you can prove the buyer has the item, then you will lose any dispute.

If I'd been palmed off by a seller telling me to wait for a refund then I would open a dispute.
best to turn the house upside down looking for your receipt & hope that it's one of the RD that does in fact track if the buyer's received it.

1st July is a good deal of time ago - buyers shouldn't be kept waiting that long, and the longer they tend to wait, the less likely it is to be a scam because most items would probably arrive within a relatively short period of time and scammers tend to open disputes on untracked items very promptly because they rarely wait long after receipt to fake an INR. In her view she paid, it's been two weeks since you posted, and that's long enough to be waiting in my opinion.

Unfortunately it's up to you to keep your receipts, that's part of your responsibility as well.

I've had items turn up after 3 weeks so I 'd certainly wait before trying to get a refund.

Had a next day special delivery item that take 2 weeks to get to me once.

If she has negs then she is a seller herself and I would think if she is using one account to buy and sell she would be extremely unlikely to be attempting a scam. Also why would she know you had lost the receipt anyway?

Unless you have got the tracking number which shows it's been delivered you will have to refund. As for the lost receipt, it's tough. Sometimes items get lost in the mail.
