You could always get the power companies to do a power free day. Unfortunately it may well take 2 or 3 days to get all the power stations back on line again. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

There are too many lazy, stupid and apathetic people in the UK for this to work.
Every flock needs a good shepherd.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -

No, there are too many people who realise that it would be a pointless exercise that only inconveniences themselvesThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Agreed. plus alot of households need to use power continuously. I know there alot of people in my family I would not like to see without power at all. Im talking about dailies with young children, elderly members of my family who I don't want to see sat in the dark for the day.0 -

Also agreed. Those that did go along with it would make alternative arrangements, like using (and paying for) energy in advance to charge up batteries and prepare flasks of hot water.
I know my house alarm system wouldn't last a day without power, even with its own battery, charged by the mains of course.:)I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. This doesn't sound like it'd be a particularly enjoyable thing to do. Would it be an annual event? If so, would you mind if I just reduce my gas and electricity usage by 0.274% over the course of a year instead? Thanks.0

You do realise that by, er, hitting the utility companies where "it hurts", they'd be more likely to increase prices than go 'oh look, the people are revolting, help help we'd better lower prices quick!'0

For those who like 'no power' days, then all they have to do is wait another 5 or 6 years, and if the planned Nuclear and coal fired plant closures go ahead, then we'll all have plenty of 'no power' periods to be shared around the country.0
