RBS PPI Helpline

Hi
Looking for a bit of advice.

I notice that RBS have introduced a PPI Claim Helpline and was wondering if anyone had any experience of using this to pursue a claim with them?

I've had two loans with RBS and both times I am sure I had PPI on them.

The first loan was for around £1800, just after I finished Uni and was repayable over 2 years, so it finished in 2006/7 (not sure of exact dates).

Second loan was for £10 000 and I'm presently still paying it.

I'm hoping I've got a good case for mis-selling. After I finished Uni I started working for the NHS which has a full sick pay scheme and also to be honest I really cannot remember anything being mentioned about PPI during either of the face to face interviews. In fact all the bank worker seemed interested in was pushing me to sign up for their Royalties Account at the time!

TIA

Yeah as Amersall says give it a go, but keep a note of who you spoke to, date, time and which department they are in, I got that in a SAR I put in where if I wanted any recordings I had to supply all of that.
You have a good case for mis-sale because they didn't check your ability to pay if you were ill, made redundant etc etc, civil servants don't need the ppi cover as you get the benefits in employment and a decent redundancy if laid off.
Good luck and keep us posted, I currently have 5 complaints in against RBS, done by the paper complaint form.
Thanks to all the competition posters.

  • Just a word of warning they are the kings and queens of stalling tactics, after emailing the CEO I had been 'fastracked' and was told a decision would be made in 10 days from june 13th and finally had an offer last week after many calls and emails that werent replied to,, yet they tell me it will be up 28 days before payment will be made which is incredible as they transfer money for a living and i bet if you owed them they wouldnt wait that long!!!

Well, finally got round to getting some time to call the RBS PPI Helpline - their opening hours aren't that good in fitting around my hours of work!

Spoke to a very nice lady, who within minutes had found both of my loan details. Said I would be able to claim from both and asked me why I thought I'd been mis-sold. When I explained that I had been working for the NHS at the time she said that I had a case for mis-selling due to my NHS employee benefits (full sick pay etc...). She then went on to say that I should hear from them within a week regarding my claim.

So haven't had to do a SAR or any other letter writing/requests for information - all in all a painless experience - so far.

Will update this when I receive any further correspondence from them.
