Hi All,
Just thought I would share this info with others
I used to work in IT and I wanted a some Free AntiVirus (AV) software and also I HATE Norton AV with a passion!!!!
Well after some digging around about 6 months ago or so, I found AVAST AV software and I have been using it ever since. It is very good and has always stopped/dectected/cleaned up all the viruses I have managed to pick up
Here is the site anyway http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html and I hope you enjoy it.
All the best,
Omni

omni, yep, Avast is one of the programs i would pay for if they charged for it.A lot of people like Avg,but i had so many problems with it,because your using the free version of Avg,you get your updates after the paid for versions, which is ok ,but most of the time the multi coloured box on the taskbar was showing it wanted to update ,and it never would till the next day!
Been using avast for 3 years now and its excellent program, always updates it self .0 -
Al Mac,i not used Avg for years now,and when i used to run belarac, it always said my anti spyware needs updating .so i got rid of it.
I know a lot of people like Avg ,and if it works for them, thats good.I find Avast works perfect for me.0 -
I use a paid AV program, but if i was forced to choose an AV or else someone will throw me off a cliff, i'll choose Avast! or AVS (ActiveVirusShield), just personal preffrence at the end of the day.0

I must admit I personally don't like AVG! lol0

Have used both (currently using AVG but switch every once in a while). I would struggle to rate one over the other. My perception is that AVG takes longer than AVAST to do a thorough scan.Apparently I'm 10 years old on MSE. Happy birthday to me...etc0

ive used avast for nearly 2 years and im really happy with it (if you do get a virus, it sounds a flamin klaxon!!) another thing is it updates every day as soon as you connect to internet so on a slowww comp like mine its a godsend not having to download updates all the time.Fr. Surely this cant be right. Are you saying that the free AVG is getting updates 1 week behind the paid for version or have I misunderstood. I have the free version and its set to update daily. As far as I can see from the AVG website its the same virus base that the paid for version is currently using.0
