if you have a security center icon in control panel, it's sp2, if it's not there, it isn't.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

if the driver doesn't support wpa, there may be an update for it.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

There is a driver dated later than the version i've got but i cant find it anywhere. I did a google search and someone had asked a similar question on a forum somewhere.
The driver i'm looking for is toshiba wireless LAN mini PCI card v 7.82.0.550. This apparently supports WPA but because its 2003 I cant find it. The version I've got at the moment is v 7.43.0.9 which is 2001.debt free...yippee

This seems to what you are looking for here.
I clicked on the drivers for WIN98, ME, 2000 & XP and the readme.txt file in the zip mentions "Toshiba Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card" and mentions WPA.
If you want an angry p ussy, copy this one::doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
It's me again
Had a look on the toshiba site, downloaded a file but it turned out to be older than the one i've already got.
Went back to the Agere site and downloaded the zipped file inc the toshiba mini lan drivers for xp.
Do I need all those files in there? Its 2mb zipped up.........
If not, how do I copy the ones I do need, and how do I know what they are?
It also mentions something about Hermes 1 and 11 in the notes. Is this relevant to me?debt free...yippee

I know others here will disagree, but using WEP will deter the casual eavesdropper and free use of your broadband (esp. of you do MAC filtering). How likely is it that someone with the skill will go to the effort of starting a cryptographic attack on your key when there's plenty of open wi-fi connection around?0 -
After downloading the drivers file, you need to create a directory on your hard drive to unzip all of the files into. Then Right click My Computer, Properties, Hardware, Device Manager and highlight your Wireless device. When updating the driver, point to the directory that you have un-zipped the files to. After getting this far, you may as well update and use the more secure WPA encryption. Once it's set-up you can then forget it. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
