Grrr re Post Office car insurance!!

I took out my car insurance with the Post Office a couple of months ago as it seemed like a good quote - £289 for my 2002 Peugeot 206 with £50 back in postal orders. The policy they've used is with Norwich Union.
I called them up just now to ask for my 19 year old daughter to be added for a couple of weeks whilst she's home from Uni and they say they won't do it or even add her on as an additional driver!! She's been driving for 2 years and has a completely clean licence. I was previously insured with Toyota Insurance and this was never a problem to add her on for the odd week here and there for a premium of about £30. If I cancel my Post Office insurance now I lose about £100! Not sure what do do really and can't understand why they operate like this! Anyone any advice or been in a similar situation? TIA.

Read the terms and conditions of your policy!
The policy is cheaper for a reason.0 -
Can you explain properly please? I just called back and spoke to someone else a got a completely different story! Thanks.0

T&Cs vary on each policy. I never chose the cheapest policy for me as it wouldn't allow me to drive other vehicles with the drivers consent unless i was 30. I chose Zurich as it gave me this cover and allows me to drive my Dad's two cars. Sometimes the cheapest isn't always the best.0

If all policies offered everything you needed there would be very little variation in premiums. Some companies pick little things to strip out of their policies so that they can offer you a cheap policy but the price you have to pay is your query in post1.0 -
Spoke to someone else this afternoon who are now saying that they will insure myself, 17 yr old learner child and 19 yr old second child for £1547 fully comp. Think this is the best I'll get and quite a reasonable deal considering that I was getting some ridiculous quotes for my 17 yr old.0
