Morrison's milk price hike

For months, I have been able to buy two 4-pint bottles of semi-skimmed milk at Morrison's for £2.00. Today, without warning, the special offer has been withdrawn and now I am being charged £2.98 for two 4-pint bottles. This is almost a 50% price increase overnight!

Is this a national decision by Morrison's, or does it just apply to my local store (Tewkesbury)?

Where is the cheapest place to buy fresh milk now?

Sainsbury's have also increased the price for their 4 pints 1% fat milk from £1.00 to £1.49 in the last couple of weeks.

However, they have it on offer of 3 for £3.00.

I disovered this when I popped in for a couple last Friday night. It seems that the standard supermarket price is now £1.49 for those of us that don't have the option of Aldi, Lidl & Poundland etc nearby.

As previously stated, it's 3 for £3 at Tesco's and Sainsbury's & I thought it was the same in Morrison's & Asda too. A bit of a pain really as I much preferred buying 2 for £2 takes up less room in the fridge for one thing. Luckily there are 4 of us here & we can manage to use 3 before it goes off, but not much help for those living alone or couples. :(

I buy my milk only at Iceland for £1 - even though I almost never buy anything else, and I buy 4% fat, so that I can dilute it and it lasts more. I don't have to use much for our tea and when making hot chocolate I dilute with water 50-50 and it's just like semi-skimmed!:) I like to save in this way.

I nearly always get my milk from Lidl's and they have been charging £1 for ages (sometimes even cheaper).

I find Lidl are the most transparent on prices, they are not always the cheapest on branded stuff (due to offers), but if you can find prices lower than Lidl, then you know you have a bargain (generally).
Lidl's own stuff though is of a good quality and cheaper.

These deals of 3 x 4pints for £3 are fine for those that have families. People that live alone, such as myself or don't have much milk are priced out.

I only buy 4 pints of milk in Iceland if there is at least 8 days on the use by date, which isn't often the case as 4 pints lasts me a week. I buy 2 pints.

I would love to buy milk in a deal like 3 for £3 with friends, but they don't drink enough milk to justify the deal. I go through more milk than my friend, DH and DS! They tend to use milk for tea/coffee and the odd packet mix of custard.

For health reasons, I only use UHT. Aldi is vastly cheaper than Morrisons and it's just as good.

Exactly and one of the reasons I very, very rarely use Tesco now.
Other shops can do half-price offers, but Tesco tend to do BOGOF etc. Same price, but you have to buy double and Tesco seem to look aftew the spenders and so do most of the big 4, well maybe not ASDA.
Half-price is better than BOGOF as it helps single people and those with tighter budgets.
