rant - Tescos

AAAHHHHH:mad:

That feels better.

I'm so angry with Tescos. I bought some fresh cream yesterday (13th July) to use in a receipe today for my familes tea. When I took the cream out of my fridge I noticed the Use by date was dated the 9th July!!!! that was last Saturday. I live about 1/2 hours drive away from my nearest Tesco but I will take the packaging with my receipt back to the store next week.

Looks like I will have to walk to my local shop (about 10min walk)

I'm so angry that I did not notice the date in store as I usually check these things....

    And? Who cares?

Just put it in a tupperware and take it back on your next trip.

    Sh*t happens.
  • Admittedly it's not right and proper that a can of cream should be on sale past its use-by date, but realistically in a store the size of some of these Tesco ones the occasional item will inevitably slip through the net.

Before you go to the bother of freezing it or taking it back, why not just check if it has gone off? It might be OK.

Using a product a couple days after it's best before will probably be okay, but using a product after it's use-by date is very dodgy.

The worker in Tesco whom was dealing with stocking that area should have picked it up, but Tesco is a bit store with lots of lines so a product might slip though the net, the advise is always to check the dates.

Stuff doesn't magically go off at midnight on the use-by date.

Admittedly, this was several days after, but it wouldn't be "very dodgy" to have a teeny taste or sniff to see if it's off. One taste, and you'll know if it's OK. That is unlikely to do you any harm.
