Oh my God, I've just checked my bank with a fine tooth comb and realised that I borrowed £150 in November; they have took small amounts from my bank before I had a new card which total £685, and are now saying I owe them over £700. They have never sent me a breakdown of these charges despite my asking several times so I have stopped my original letter offering a weekly payment from being posted, and sent another letter by registered post telling them I won't pay further until I know what I'm paying for. Am I within my rights to do that?0

You can do whatever you like, whether it stops the charges is something else altogether.
The APR is astronomical, as are the charges for failing to repay. If you use them as they are intended to be used, they aren't that bad.
If you fail to meet your promise, then the APR and charges become reality, as they are now.
Do not, under any circumstances use someone else to make a payment for you (using their card), keep it all in house, your debt, your repayments.
One thing you can be sure of: If you bury your head in the sand it will get much worse for you.0 -
I would read Chris's post above, then read it again and get your finger out sorting this debacle."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0

I would never ask someone to repay my debt; as for pulling my finger out - thanks for that helpful piece of advice. I am currently in hospital as I have been on and off for the last 6 months. As they will not do anything other than constantly phone me even though they know I cannot speak, and they refuse to answer any of my emails or letters, I do not see what more I can do. They have ignored every request I have made for weekly payment plan and a breakdown of what I owe; I am more than willing to pay them but I would like to know what I am paying for. I don't think that's an unreasonable request. I am not one of those people who runs up debts and then refuses to pay, had I not been ill I would have paid them as arranged and this would never have happened. Nor am I using my illness as an excuse but the fact of the matter is I cannot speak to them to sort it out and they will not communicate any other way.0

You have to remember these compaines don't care if you're ill, mutating into some kind of half man / half lizard type creature or if you're "off planet" somewhere.....all they want is their cash."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0

Yep, completely agree with you there! Ah well, hopefully the registered letter will actually get me somewhere and God knows this has taught me a lesson about short term fixes turning into long term headaches.0 -
You need to find a solicitor to deal with this for you. Can you find phone number online and ring, perhaps they may come see you in hospital?
This is not on. And you need to seek legal advice asap.0 -

Have you tried asking the Doctor attached to your case to write a letter confirming your medical difficulties, then perhaps ask a good friend, or relative to act on your behalf.
In any event, telephoning is not a good way to establish facts - who said what etc., recorded delivery letters are the norm particularly if you want to prove what has been said.
Good luck with sorting this out.0 -

OP may be able to get legal aid.
OP should NOT have to be dealing with these people with her condition.
OP has paid enough back to them already (more than double, it's disgusting).
OP needs LEGAL advice ASAP!0 -

I think it is best you get some help with this TODAY as the amount is going up faster than you could imagine...DO NOT DELAY..It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0
