Painting a Front Door

I'm new to the world of DIY and my next project is to paint our front door which is a horrible green colour at the moment. I've know that I have to use gloss paint but can't get my head around how I can paint a door with gloss paint that takes 16 hours to dry and close the door when its time for bed in the evening. Is there any kind of paint that I can use that will dry quicker or have I got to start painting at the crack of dawn and hope for the best?

Quick drying gloss. Brilliant!! Who'd have thought it.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
It is probably recommended that you sand down the green paint first than just painting over it with gloss. If you just the above, the paint will easily chip off.Motto: 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'

quick drying gloss probably means that it drys so quick that you don't get the chance to get rid of the brush marks .
if i was doing it ..last thing at night i would put a brick between the threshold of the door ..and some heavy objects the other side ..table etc ..or even wedge a broom again the staircase if you have one
all the best.markj0
